Abstract
The perinatal period, encompassing pregnancy and the postpartum phase, presents a myriad of challenges for women, ranging from the postpartum anxiety and stress to complex relationships, divorce, and single motherhood. These challenges have profound implications for maternal mental health and the well-being of both mothers and their children. Through a comparative analysis of five case studies, we can highlight the critical role of mental health counseling in addressing these perinatal challenges. While these cases reveal the diversity of issues faced by women, they consistently underscore the significance of counseling in providing validation, coping strategies, improved communication, self-care and empowerment. By prioritizing mental health counseling during perinatal period, we can create a transformative impact on women’s lives, enhance mother-child relationships, and promote the overall well-being of families.
